Making its only West Coast stop at the Skirball Cultural Center, Paul Simon: Words & Music—a traveling exhibition organized by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum—illustrated how the legendary artist’s music has reflected social and cultural ideals.
Placing an emphasis on Paul Simon's lyrics, the galleries were wallpapered with his words then layered with a central timeline, images, and artifacts. We chose muted, chalky colors and enlarged iconic photos to highlight and delineate sections. The exhibition featured a 70s-styled lounge area to view interviews and clips from Simon's numerous appearances on Saturday Night Live, as well as a highly interactive music lab developed in cooperation with Roland Corporation.
